You can look up your Morgan County taxes online at:

At all three sites, you can search by your last name or use your District, Map, and Parcel number. (Start with District=Rock Gap, Map=1A).[Lots in sections Q, R and S will start with District=Bath, Map=9A.] You can also pay online, but there is a fee for this service.

If you don’t know your parcel number, use the Morgan County GIS map to locate your lot. Use the Plus sign in the upper left corner to zoom in on the CMA area. The parcel number is annotated on the map. (Note: Your Parcel Number is not your CMA Lot Number).

Print a copy of the online bill and send it with your payment to:

Renting Your Property?

If you rent your property for less than 30 consecutive days it is considered a taxable activity. As such, a taxpayer is required to obtain a business registration certificate from the West Virginia Tax Division and comply with WV tax laws. For more information, see TSD 435 Short-Term Leases and Rentals of Real Property (March 2023) for details on obtaining a business registration certificate and application of real estate tax classes.

Additionally, the rental may be subject to county and municipal hotel occupancy taxes that are collected and remitted directly to the county or municipality imposing the tax. The rate of the hotel occupancy tax may not exceed 6% of the price charged to the customer.

The business must pay state and municipal sales and use taxes when it purchases tangible personal property for use or consumption in its short-term rental business activity. Tangible personal property or items used to maintain the property are subject to the sales and use tax, such as cleaning services, furniture, or repair and maintenance services.
